Holding Out for a Hero

As I gazed across the crowded 2012 GOP presidential field, I was left wondering where have all the good men (or women) gone? Sure, they all have great strengths and would be much better than our current Commander in Chief. Yet, none of the candidates really struck me as being the guy (or girl). I hoped that if Chris Christie jumped into the race he could breathe life into the presidential pool, but I’ve recently realized the error in that judgment. It’s easy to believe that once we elect the right politician, all of our problems will be solved. Mitt Romeny, Rick Perry, Herman Cain, or another candidate will come riding in on a white horse to pull our nation back from the brink. however, that’s the same mentality that got us into the fix we are in now. a majority of Americans bought into Barack Obama’s promised of hope and change and propelled an inexperienced community organizer and brief Senator into the most powerful office in the world. Look where that decision got us. we put our faith into the wrong person. Or more actually, we put all of our faith in one person.

Our nation’s salvation does not lie in the hands of Barack Obama. Or in the hands of Rick Perry or Mitt Romney for that matter. Humans are fallible and inclined to error by nature, so to put all our trust in a single man, woman, or political party is ignorant at best. the answer to our nation’s woes lies in our faith in God and our faith in one another. Sure, a politician who embodies the faith our nation was built upon will assist in bringing us back from the brink of destruction, but they must be backed by a nation of value-oriented, motivated, and hard working citizens. the revivalism promoted by the Tea Party touches on such an ideological shift and cultural revolution. to truly save this nation, we don’t need a Superman. Positive change begins in the hearts of individual and then spreads to families, communities, states, and finally the nation like wildfire.

When it comes to the 2012 GOP field, I’m not holding out for a hero. Change occurs from the bottom up, and is not solely in the hands of one political candidate. to set our nation back upon a positive course, we must first look at ourselves. too long have American values of faith and fidelity gone down the tubes. we must first change our hearts before we change our nation and that takes time. a single election alone is not capable of completely shifting our nation’s hearts and minds. we cannot hold out for a savior among a group of infighting politicians. we must first find the hero within ourselves and spread that faith to our families, friends, and nation.

Rick Perry Fires Wayward Shot In War On Christmas (VIDEO)

Who says the Republicans have ended American manufacturing? They have created an entire new industry out of manufactured indignation over manufactured wars, like the War on Families, the War on Christmas and the War on Religion. It’s too bad that the only jobs their manufacturing provides is for Presidential candidates and political pundits.

Rick Perry, the floundering Presidential candidate, decided it was time for his own brand of indignation, in nearly incomprehensible Rick Perry style. In response to Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton’s address to the United Nations, in which she called for equal rights for all LGBT people, Perry had this to say,

“special rights for gays in foreign countries is not in America’s interests and not worth a dime of taxpayers’ money.”

Clinton didn’t say a word about spending taxpayers’ money. In fact, she alluded to withholding aid to countries who mistreat their LGBT citizens.

In an ad released yesterday, Perry said,

“there’s something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can’t openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school.”

Here’s the video:

The vast majority of Americans, including President Obama, are Christians. much of the right’s indignation is over the term “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas.” “Happy Holidays” has been used for as long as I can remember, to be inclusive, to recognize that not all Americans celebrate Christmas and that there is another holiday, celebrated by most Christians, called “New Years.” It’s not a War on Christmas. It’s a War on wordiness. It’s shorthand. Rick Perry of all people, should appreciate the need to use fewer words.

Rick Perry Wears Faith On (Barn Coat) Sleeve In New Iowa Ad : It’s All Politics : NPR

In the latest reminder that he’s still in the race (if apparently not in the hunt) for the Republican presidential nomination, Texas Gov. Rick Perry has a new TV ad in Iowa in which he makes a naked appeal to the state’s religious conservatives who are expected to play an important role in the upcoming caucuses.

Just in time for the annual “war on Christmas” controversy, Perry’s ad shows the candidate in a lush green, Garden of Eden-like setting with a soundtrack that sounds like it was influenced by the quiet parts of Appalachian Spring. Perry, rocking a barn coat, says:

YouTube

“I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a Christian, but you don’t need to be in the pew every Sunday to know there’s something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can’t openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school.

“As President, I’ll end Obama’s war on religion. And I’ll fight against liberal attacks on our religious heritage.

“Faith made America strong. it can make her strong again.”

And perhaps faith (and a big warchest) can keep a candidate in a presidential race when the odds against winning the nomination are so high as appears the case for Perry right now.

What Does Rick Perry Stand For – This Is Where He Stands on the Issues

What does Rick Perry stand for? Millions of Republicans and conservatives are asking this question as the 2012 elections draw closer. At the time of this writing, he has not officially announced his intentions for next year, but it appears that Perry is going to run this year. it makes plenty of sense for him to run. the polls show he is already one of the strongest candidates in the GOP field.

If you are wondering what does Rick Perry Stand for, you have come to the right place Let’s discuss his stance on the major issues of conservatives in 2012.

Abortion
Christians are extremely passionate about this issue, and the right candidate for the GOP should stand for pro-life causes. Perry is strongly pro-life. he opposes the government policy of funding abortions. he has also signed a bill in Texas where teenage girls under the age of 18 must get parental consent before deciding to get an abortion. In 2011, Perry signed the Mandatory Ultrasound Bill. This bill requires a woman who wants to get an abortion to go through an ultrasound where she sees images on the sonogram of her unborn child and hears the baby’s heartbeat.

Religious Beliefs
Rick Perry is an evangelical Christian. he forms his beliefs primarily on Christian principles. On a couple of occasions, Rick Perry has declared times of prayer and fasting. he declared June 6, 2011 as a time of fasting and prayer. Perry regularly attends different church services in Texas to speak. he also called for a time of prayer in April 2011 to pray for rain for Texas. he believes that intelligent design should be taught in the school system along with evolution. he does not believe that the government should establish an official religion as the government taxes everyone the same.

The Role of Government in Society
Governor Rick Perry supports limited central government. he feels that the current Federal government is bloated and needs to be cut back.

Global Warming and Other Environmental Issues
Governor Perry believes that there is no substantial evidence of global warming. he feels that scientists have not concluded that global warming is a real problem in our society today. he believes that global warming is a lot of media hype, and he is staunchly opposed to passing legislation that supports climate change initiatives.

Fiscal Policies
Texas is one of the states that doesn’t have a state income tax, and Governor Perry has opposed any attempts to create an income tax for Texas. he is a fiscal conservative that stands for conservative fiscal values in most cases. he is very strong on job creation, as Texas leads the nation in new jobs created since 2003. it has created 73.4 % of the nation’s jobs since 2006. This is huge as many Americans are out of work today.

What does Rick Perry stand for? Perry stands for pro-life, fiscal conservative values, social conservatives, and limited government. he is one of the best candidates for the Tea Party Movement.
