They Will Rock You ‘Tear It Up’ at the Theatre Royal

Queen was one of the most famous bands of all time, and after lead singer Freddie Mercury died in 1991, it left the world devastated. therefore it was only a matter of time before tribute acts started to be found, in memory of a worldwide talent.

Mercury was not only famous for his voice but also his outstanding performances on stage his outgoing persona captured audiences and made the British public fall in love with him. It is pretty hard to live up to such a great performer, but the Queen Tribute act, They Will Rock You, did a brilliant job on Saturday, March 10th at the Theatre Royal.

The night started like any other gig with a supporting act who happened to be special guest tribute Tina Turner. Turner, whose voice and act was very similar to the real Tina Turner’s, warmed the audience up by getting members of the audience on stage to dance with her, and get them ready for the main act of the night.

She did a brilliant job of impersonating Tina Turner and it made the audience even more excited to what was in store.

The much anticipated act finally came on, firstly Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor entered the stage, which lead up to the big arrival of Freddie. At a second’s glance you wouldn’t have known if it was the real Freddie Mercury on stage or not.

Coming on with his famous yellow jacket and white trousers, his goofy teeth and moustache, the audience cheered. As he broke into song, it was like the real Mercury was on stage. The music and vocals were incredible as he sung some of their most famous songs; “We Will Rock You”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “I want To Break Free” and “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

When singing “I want To Break Free”, he even re-enacted the video of the song, in which he dressed up as a woman and came on stage with a broom. His act didn’t stop there though, he changed in to two more outfits, which were signature of what the real Freddie did on stage.

Not only that, he played the piano when singing crazy little thing called love and some of his other popular hits again just as Freddie would of done on his tours.

Every seat in the theatre was taken up, and the crowd consisted of different age groups from young children, to adults. almost all of them were singing and clapping along. Even for  the young children who would not really be aware of the band, they seemed to enjoy it as Queen’s music is really easy to listen to and enjoy.

All in all a brilliant night out! A definite must see if it comes to a theatre near you!

Owing to bohemian chic style being a combination of old and new, it is also a combination of different styles. Using different lush textures and intricate patterns essentially creates the true bohemian feeling. with rich rhapsody colours and brocade, different feels and looks combine to create the scene.

Because of the different styles, colours do tend to be rather neutral for the most part. Generally earthy colours with spicy colours scattered in between. Overall the ambience must be light and airy, although candles and vintage lanterns create a different feel at dusk

The actual term Bohemian is the gypsy phrase for Good Home. the philosophy behind it is to live in harmony with the earth and all life forms. therefore, bringing in elements of the earth, whether it is plants, ferns or crystals, into the space will assist.

At the end of the day, a true bohemian style is to have a room that reflects all aspects of yourself and your travels. What makes you comfortable and relaxed is the true basis of the style. as Oscar Wilde said To love oneself is the beginning of a life long romance.
